Empowering Black Male Excellence Through Community and Connection
The MENTOR Initiative at Rutgers University-New Brunswick is more than just a mentoring program—it's a transformative community dedicated to supporting Black male students on their journey to academic and personal success.
Our Mission
We aim to connect Black male students with accomplished Black faculty, staff, and alumni mentors who understand their unique experiences and aspirations. Through meaningful relationships and targeted support, we empower students to thrive academically, develop as leaders, and graduate ready to make their mark on the world.
Why MENTOR Matters

- Build genuine connections with successful Black professionals who understand your journey
- Access crucial academic and personal development resources
- Develop leadership skills through hands-on experiences
- Join a supportive community that celebrates your identity and aspirations
- Participate in transformative learning experiences that prepare you for post-graduate success
