Black Welcome Week Student Social Picture

Black Welcome Week

The Paul Robeson Cultural Center’s inaugural Black Welcome Week is a week-long series of programs aimed to introduce students to the center, faculty and staff, cultural student leadership opportunities, and campus resources.

With an emphasis on first-year and transfer students, this program is intended to help students get acclimated to campus, empower them, and support them in finding community and increase their sense of belonging. Through keynote speakers, lectures, panel discussions, and social opportunities, students will recognize their community cultural wealth (Yosso, 2005) while developing and affirming their Black identity on campus (Cross, 2001).
